Yours is the Kingdom

Psalm 147: 3 and 5 says this: "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds..Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; His understanding is beyond measure."

If you pray for me today, pray Psalm 86:11. It says, "Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name." Pray that my heart, which is so deceitful, would lead me only to Him. Pray that I would truly know his faithfulness and his sovereignty. I know that the Lord cries for me when I cry. He directs me in the way I should go. All these things are things that I know, and truths that I've imprinted in my mind. I just ask for prayers that they would move from my head to my heart, and that I would feel like I'm in the Lord's hands. I want to feel like His will is far greater than mine.

This song has been on my heart this week. We sing it at church often, and I love the truth that is in it. Here's a link to it on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4H-iWayY5M.

Our God is, a consuming fire,
A burning holy Flame, with glory and freedom
Our God is, the only righteous judge,
Ruling over us with kindness and wisdom

We will keep our eyes on You
We will keep our eyes on You

A mighty fortress is our God
A sacred refuge is Your Name
Your Kingdom is unshakable
With You forever we will reign

Our God is, jealous for His own
None could comprehend, His love and His mercy
Our God is exalted on His throne
High above the heavens
Forever He’s worthy...

We will keep our eyes on You
We will keep our eyes on You

We will keep our eyes on You
We will keep our eyes on You
So we can set our hearts on You
Lord we will set our hearts on You!

Spring-ish weekend!

I had such a wonderful weekend and enjoyed a good break from life and school and stress and so much more. Friday night I went to dinner with my lovely roommate and best friend Maegan and her boyfriend Zach. We shared a delicious pizza then headed to campus to see the Avett Brothers! The show was wonderful, as they usually are. I've seen them a handful of times but I can never get enough of my boys :)

Saturday was just as enjoyable. My friend Austin and I rode bikes downtown to the Azalea Festival, which is a street fair with greasy carnival type food, vendors from all over the place, and crazy street performers with bagpipes, boa constrictors, and tap shoes. Austin and I shared an order of fried pickles and an ice cold lemonade.

After church and lunch on Sunday I came home to do a few homework assignments. Later in the afternoon, my friend Cadence and I decided to bike from my house to the beach and back. We had such a lovely ride and it was so great to soak up the sun. I just got this vintage Raleigh road bike which I am crazy obsessed with, and it makes bike rides so very fun. I told Cadence that I feel like I have magic powers when I ride that thing because road bikes are so much faster and enjoyable to ride around here. I've only ever had a rusty mountain bike from Walmart :) Cadence and I laughed at all the crazies who were in bikinis at the beach, as it was warm but definitely not warm enough to get in that 61 degree water! We biked a grand total of 8.9 miles getting there and back.

That's my new baby. My friends and co-YL leaders, Matt and Kenny, found her at a local sports thrift for $54. They gave it to me as a gift and all I've had to do is get new tires and tubes for $70. The guys at the bike shop told me that I could easily sell her for five or six hundred bucks. I think I'll keep her around though :)

And then the weekend ended and I started off my week with a disaster in the kitchen. I woke up and practically slept walk to start my coffee. I was greeted with puddles of water covering the whole kitchen. There was water pouring out from behind the refrigerator, and I of course was completely clueless as to what to do. Luckily I found a neighbor outside and she and I managed to turn the street water off. That stopped any more flooding that could've happened but also meant that I couldn't wash my face, brush my teeth, or make my coffee. The maintenance guy came and discovered there was a crack in the filter for the ice machine, and it was causing water to gush out all over the place. Thanks to the Shop Vac I found in our garage we got the kitchen almost back to normal. Thank the Lord for people who are knowledgeable on things like fridges and street water cut-off switches. Now let's hope the rest of Monday can run smoothly without any floods or disasters!

Let's try this again...

I was recently thinking about this blog, and realized that my hope of updating it weekly fell through from the very start. I'm going to try again. Maybe now that the semester is almost over I will be able to find more time to get on here and share my life with you all.

Life right now is extraordinarily busy. I never knew that an accounting major and a Spanish minor would both be so time consuming. I am either in class, at work, or doing hours upon hours of homework and studying, but yet somehow I still feel like I need about 10 more hours added to each day to keep up with all the work I have.

It's becoming especially harder now that the weather is getting warmer and brighter. Who would want to go sit in class all day when it's 78 degrees outside?! Summer really can't come soon enough!

The Lord has been teaching me a great deal about His nearness and His sovereign heart. I am experiencing his love like never before, and realizing that He is truly all that I need. I think we often forget that because we feel so comfortable with all that He blesses us with. We forget that we don't need any of this extra cushioning, and that all we need is him. I'm so grateful for being able to start my days off right with a quiet time. He's teaching me so much about where my heart has been, and what my sights have been focused on. Conviction is always such a hard thing, but I love knowing that the Lord can convict me of something, of some sin, and know that He hasn't stop loving me any less. All he longs for is for my heart to be set on His!

Pray that I would be able to have patience with His plan for my life. Psalm 119:105 says, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." The Lord reveals only whats right in front of me, my next step per say. Often times I get so frustrated because I want him to be a light house or to hold a forever shining spot light on my future. He lights up just what I need him to, and I am trusting that that is enough. Isaiah 48:17b says, "I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is good for you and directs you in the way you should go." The Lord knows what is best for me, and if I am running after him, he leads me only on the path which is best for me. Pray that I would truly trust that day after day, and that my flesh and my heart wouldn't lead me anywhere else.

Thanks for keeping me in your prayers and for loving me so well.
